A traditional, vegetarian Onam Sadya.
Onam is the official harvest festival of Kerala. It signifies food security, agricultural prosperity, and the welcoming of new beginnings.
An Onam Sadya is a traditional, multi-course vegetarian feast native to the Indian state of Kerala. Served on a fresh banana leaf, it features 21 dishes that are eaten by hand. The feast is the culinary highlight of Onam, Keralaโs major harvest festival, and is meant to symbolize abundance, unity, and community.
Every year for Onam, for the past 30 years, our mom has been inviting all our friends over for a feast on onam, from all cultures and all walks of life. This year, we invite you to a be a part of the culture, and into my mom's kitchen.
